I was extremely surprised by the pressrelease. Especially since STUK basically published the same information on their webb years ago. WHAT made STUK suddenly take active and "offensive" measures??!! Could it also be that it is becoming impossible to turn the Interphone-study into a "no risk-study" and that Interphone really will be released this year?

If this is the case it's quite understandable that STUK wants to avoid too much critic for not having warned the public earlier. I don't know. But it's already very late when it comes to warnings anyway...

Hello again Maria

Indeed, STUK seems to be confused and tries to save ... what is to be saved.

STUK representatives in general still (in March 2009) talk (only) about tissue heating and SAR values. I just read one of their evaluations which pointed out that radiation power density values in mobile phones have decreased when phones have been changed from analog (NMT) to digital (3G). With this statement they were indicating the current phones are safer than older ones.

Well, they could have pointed out that the pulsed or 3G-modulated signal is biologically more active than non-pulsed, see: www.bioinitiative.org/report/docs/section_14.pdf , www.hese-project.org/hese-uk/en/papers/ecolog2000.pdf

+++ An interesting new publication:

Pathophysiology, Volume 16:

Really interesting stuff, and thanks Mikko for adding that publication - as a mother in the UK I must admit it is slightly worrying that children freely use mobile phones without any thought to the risk...texting and what not all day long! I was discussing this on http://www.gurgle.co.uk a while back and to be honest no-one else supported my concerns - it's nice to know Finland are at least on the job!

Dear Sally,

Thank you for your nice reply. I am glad that moms and dads are talking :-)

To me texting is OK (with some limitations). I am more worried about kids making calls the mobile phone attached to their heads or having long 3G/GPRS surfing sessions the mobile phone/communicator pressed against the stomach/genitials.

Some latest interesting articles:

Please, be patient in spreading the word in the Gurgle service.

Yours,

Mikko
